Overview

Moonbase Art sits at an unusual intersection — functional manufacturing precision and collectible artistic ambition. Each piece is 3D printed, finished by hand, and exists somewhere between object and artwork. When they came to us, they needed more than a shop: they needed a digital space that matched the otherworldly character of the work itself, while making it effortless for collectors to browse, choose, and buy. We built them an ecommerce experience that feels as considered as the objects it sells.

Role

Custom Design · React · Snipcart · Stripe Payments

Challenge

Selling art online is never straightforward. The product needs to be felt as much as seen — texture, scale, and finish are everything — and a generic ecommerce template communicates none of that. Moonbase Art's catalogue also spans a growing range of collections, sizes, and finishes, meaning the browsing experience had to stay clean and navigable as the range expanded. The technical challenge was equally specific: a lightweight, flexible commerce layer that didn't impose a platform's visual conventions on a brand with a strong identity of its own.

Approach

We chose Snipcart as the commerce layer precisely because it stays invisible — dropping cleanly into a custom React front-end without forcing a platform aesthetic. Stripe handles payments with the reliability and checkout conversion rates their products deserve. The product pages are built to do the heavy lifting visually: full-bleed photography, generous whitespace, and material details treated with the same seriousness as the objects themselves.

We make art that don't look like they belong on this planet. We needed a store that felt the same way — not a template, something built for us.
